Academics
Mayland Early College High School was established in 2008. Located on the campus of Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine, NC the Early College pulls students from Mitchell, Avery and Yancey counties. The educational program allows students to graduate from high school while obtaining an Associate's Degree from MCC without any cost to the student. Enrollment is currently at approximately 145 students. Applications for enrollment are taken in the spring each year. The school boasts an 86% graduation rate while 85% of the graduating class of 2017 graduated with an Associate's degree from their educational partner Mayland Community College. Many students choose to continue their secondary education by enrolling in a four year university as juniors but several are ready to immediately enter the work force after graduation. Our mission is to prepare students for whichever path meets their needs.
